The ancient city of Chiang Rai was once the capital of the fabled Lanna Kingdom. Chiang Rai is Thailand 's northern areas province

It was founded in 1262 by King Mengrai as he began
to extend his domain southward.
According to legend the city was built on the
spot where he found his favorite elephant. He
felt that the site along the banks of the Kok
River was an auspicious one and thus Chiang Rai
came into being.
On the banks of Chiang Rai 's Mae Kok River, near
the ancient capital of the fabled King Mengrai,
stands the Rimkok Resort. Five kms. from downtown
and the airport. One of the most exotic and fascinating
areas of the world, Chiang Rai is the Thailand's
northernmost province and where the famous boat
- trip from Thatorn end.
The resort provides a very large swimming pool
and Chiang Rai's largest outdoor whirlpool/Jacuzzi
as a jogging trail winding over the whole area
of the resort. Additional facilities include the
